ABUJA, Nigeria – From Friday, 2nd December, 2022 to Sunday,  4th, art lovers from across Nigeria, Africa and indeed all over the world will converge in Abuja for the BEETA Arts Festival, holding at the NAF  Arcade and Waterpark, Abuja.

Title Arts Connect,  the BEETA Arts Festival is put together in collaboration with the Multichoice Talent Factory, Ebonylife Creative Academy as well as TASCK social impact organization founded by MI (Jude Abaga).

The festival, in the words of Founder, Bikiya Graham Douglas is more or less like a cultural revival to project African stories through positive narratives.

She said the festival offers opportunities for collaboration on a global stage, build capacities and learn. She believes that the festival has in store for everyone a unique and unforgettable experience. “We need to project our continent in positive light to inspire future generation”, she said during a press conference to announce the event.

For her, with the new global positioning of Africa and Africans, now more than ever,  young Africans are now focused on their identity.

“We have witnessed this with the increase in consumption of African Arts and Culture with concentration on Nigerian content.

“Our goal is to reach over 10,000 festival goers and participants with a concentration on Gen-Ys and Zs, the millennials and a sub-concentration of retirees. These will also include online attendees through virtual streaming”, she said, adding that for those attending live, there is nothing to fear as security is guaranteed, stressing that the fact that terrorists lurk around should not prevent people from living.

On the waning reading culture, he said what has been done is to document stories in the form of play to make it attractive to the young generation, while Festival Producer, Ola Rotimi  added that some of the stories are acted out in stage plays.

Ola Rotimi describes Africa as a continent blessed with diverse culture, race and colour, which he said provides ample opportunity to tell original stories about the rich African culture.

He sums it up this way: “BAF is a creative campaign curated to encourage interaction and collaborations in African creativity, showcasing existing talent, bridging the gap between new and the existing players, and creating new audiences for our rich African stories”, he said.

Coming along during the festival are workshops and conversations which will feature Olivier nominated and Al Fargon winner Dipo Agboluaje, Michael Afenfia ( Author of Mechanics of Yenegoa) and S. Su’eddie Vershima Agema.

There will be creators, performers and exhibitionists from several countries across the continent, with the festival itinerary including stage plays, film screenings, music concerts, spoken word & poetry, festival markets, lifestyle events, workshops & conversations and competitions with cash sums to be won during some of the shows.

BAF  is proudly sponsored by Tiger Beer, Zagg Energy Drink, Brains and Hammers, Chairborne Global Services Limited, Paperworth Books and supported by Megaletrics, Silverbird Group, and Doyenne Circle.
