A SCHOOLBOY aged just 14 has been charged with the murder of a 17-year-old teenager in south London.
Tragic Jamal Coombes was found with horrific injuries after police were scrambled to reports of a brutal stabbing in Battersea over the weekend.
Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene on Glycena Road at around 4:20 AM on Saturday, June 20.
Paramedics battled desperately to save the 17-year-old, but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Today, the Metropolitan Police confirmed a 14-year-old boy from Wandsworth—who cannot be named for legal reasons—has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article.
The youngster is due to appear at Highbury Corner Youth Court later this morning.
The charge comes as detectives launch a massive investigation into the early-hours horror. Three other teenagers have also been arrested by cops tracking Jamal’s killers.
A 15-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, both arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday, have been released on bail.
A fourth boy, aged 15, was arrested on Sunday and remains locked up in police custody for questioning.
Meanwhile, Jamal’s devastated family are being supported by specialist officers as they come to terms with the heartbreak.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “A teenage boy has been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Jamal Coombes in Battersea. He will appear at Highbury Corner Youth Court later this morning.”
Enquiries into the tragic incident are ongoing.
