Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola today inspected the Adeniji-Adele Housing Estate in Central Lagos, announcing to the residents plans by his administration to commence redevelopment of the estate to avoid loss of life as a result of the collapse of any of the buildings. The Lagos State Government today said it has directed security operatives step up operation toward sealing up houses lining major roads where residents are found to be hanging clothes loosely either on the balcony or on the fence. Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tunji Bello gave the directive while monitoring the monthly environmental exercise in Idimu, Lagos. The Lagos State Chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has called on the Senate to revisit the controversial Child Marriage bill currently pending in the upper house and delete sessions deemed to have been offensive and discriminatory against women. The Lagos State Government said yesterday that it has lost over N4.5billion which it would have realized from licensing and upgrading of hotels in the state. Commissioner for Tourism and Inter-governmental Relations, Mr. Oladisun Holloway made the revelation while speaking on the judgment secured by the Lagos State Government against the Federal Government at the Supreme Court. He emphasized that the judgment has stripped the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) of powers to regulate, register, license and grade the hospitality industry in states.
