LEKKI, Lagos – The Lagos State Government has resorted to threats, voter intimidation and coercion of voters, telling them that they must vote for the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, if they must live and continue to do business in Lagos.

The APC in Lagos is resulting to these vices as a last resort after refusing to appear in organized debates as a face saving and desperate measure to win election in Lagos.

Late last year, the APC started with vote buying exercise when it sent out young men issuing VOUCHERS to Nigerians in a desperate bid to secure votes for their presidential candidate.

What followed is agents of the party making threats on WhatsApp groups telling Nigerians, especially none indigenes of the state to vote for APC or their shops will be locked up and kicked out of Lagos State.

There are also allegations of collecting photocopies of voter cards from residents, with reports that APC is allegedly transferring cash to intending voters to secure votes for their candidates ahead of the February 25 general election.

The recent one is coming from Hon Idowu Badru, Executive secretary, Eti-Osa LGA and former Concillor of Gbara community who issued a directive and warning during his cabinet meeting held on Monday, January 30, 2023. The leaked AUDIO of what transpired during the meeting has gone viral online.

He has also directed his subject to snap the ballot paper  after voting, adding that only on that basis will  residents, especially non indigenes will be allowed to continue to do business in Lagos and for peace to reign in Lagos.

In the audio which leaked out of the cabinet meeting, the Baale told members to show their Permanent Voters Card, PVC,  during which he took a head count of 20 people.

“If you have your PVC let me see your hand”, he said. He said “We have 20 people that have PVC. The rest what happened, because we are ready to fight, I am not hiding it….by the grace of God today we will take our decision, the people that will be friend with us are the people that have their PVC, people that will be doing business and making profit”, he threatened.

He also threatened that he is ready to fight that they must vote for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu if they want to continue to live in Lagos State.

“Please we are making this call because we want you to be our friends”, he added.

We gathered that what the Baale is doing is not limited to  Igbara Kingdom. Sources say, similar directives have been issued by the Lagos State Government to all the wards in the state in a desperate bid to secure votes.
