LAGOS, Nigeria – The chaotic world of Nigerian street-pop has taken a breather. Following a week of social media firestorms, police interventions, and scathing insults, Portable (Habeeb Okikiola) and comedian-turned-singer Carter Efe have reportedly settled their bitter feud.
The reconciliation comes after a whirlwind of drama that saw the “Zazuu Zeh” crooner drag Efe to a police station, alleging interference with his signees. But as the dust settles, the “Street King” hasn’t stopped swinging his tongue at his former protégé, Kolu.
The beef reached a boiling point when Portable’s artist, Kolu, dumped Portable’s record label to align with Carter Efe. Portable, never one to mince words, publicly branded Kolu as “ungrateful,” accusing him of biting the hand that fed him.
However, the verbal onslaught quickly shifted from business to the bedroom. Portable took aim at Kolu’s new girlfriend, Chidinma, sparking a social media frenzy by pointing out her dating history.
According to Portable, Chidinma is the ex-girlfriend of fellow artist 10 Naira, leading to a mocking assessment of her “taste” in men.
”Ladies don’t really have taste in men,” Portable claimed in a viral video. “As long as a man has money, they can date anyone. If Kolu didn’t have money, she wouldn’t be dating him.”
Portable’s unfiltered commentary on modern romance has sparked a massive debate online.
By suggesting that financial status—not personality or looks—is the sole driver of Chidinma’s affection, he has tapped into a recurring theme in his public persona: the brutal reality of the “hustle.”
While the legal threats and police reports seem to be a thing of the past, the tension between the former mentor and his ex-signee remains palpable.
