Coronavirus: Active cases rise to 13, 725 in Nigeria as UK records 55,113 new cases

LAGOS, Nigeria -The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed 917 new cases of Coronavirus in the country, bringing all time cases to 90,080. But out of the 90,080 all time cases, 75,044 patients have been treated successfully and discharged while 1,311 others could not make it alive. Nigeria is now left with 13, 725 active cases.

Breakdown of the new cases is as follows, FCT-222, Lagos-214, Kaduna-119, Plateau-92, Nasarawa-50, Oyo-41, Adamawa-33, Ondo-32, Abia-28, Ogun-19, Rivers-17, Kano-16, Yobe-14, Edo-8, Anambra-6, Ekiti-5 and Jigawa-1, making a total of 917 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

There are now 84, 980, 767 confirmed cases of Coronavirus worldwide, 1, 841,044 people have lost their lives to the virus, while 47, 767, 745 others have been treated successfully and discharged. There are now 35, 371, 978 active cases of Coronavirus worldwide, the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland has announced.

According to JHU, the United States remains the most afflicted country, reporting 20, 573, 505 confirmed cases, 351, 277 people have been killed on US soil alone, total recovery not available(227, 214 new and  1756 deaths* ), followed by India which has reported 10, 323, 965 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 149, 435 patients have lost their lives, while 9, 927, 310 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving India with 247, 220 active cases of Coronavirus(18, 177 new cases and 217 deaths* ) and Brazil  with 7, 716, 405  confirmations, 195, 725 deaths, while 6,900, 783 others have been treated and discharged, leaving Brazil with 619, 897 active cases of Coronavirus(15, 827 new cases and 314 deaths*).

Russia   remains the 4^th country most hit, reporting 3, 203, 743 all time cases, 57, 730  people are no more, while  2, 591, 937 others have been discharged from hospitals, leaving Russia with 554, 076 active cases(23, 845 new cases and 495 deaths*), followed by France which has reported  2, 712, 975 all time cases, 65, 164 deaths and 201, 308 recoveries, leaving France with 2, 446, 503 active cases of Coronavirus(12, 495 new cases and 116 deaths*)  and the United Kingdom which has reported  2, 662, 636 all time cases, 75, 137 people have been killed on UK soil alone, while only 5, 918 patients have been treated and discharged, leaving the UK with 2, 581, 581 active cases of Coronavirus(55, 113 new and 455 deaths*).

Turkey has come up as the 7^th country most affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, reporting  2, 241,912 all time cases, 21, 488 patients are no more, while 2, 136, 534 others have recovered, leaving Turkey with 83, 890 active cases of Coronavirus(9877 new and 193 deaths* ), followed by Italy with  2, 155,446  confirmed cases, 75, 332 patients are already dead, while 1, 503, 900 others have been discharged, leaving Italy with 576, 214 active cases of Coronavirus(14, 245 new cases and 347 deaths*) and Spain which has documented 1, 928,265 all time infections,  50, 837 patients are no more, while  150, 376 patients have been discharged, leaving Spain with 1, 727, 052 active cases of Coronavirus.

Germany is now the 10^th country worst hit, reporting 1, 783, 896 all time cases,  34, 596 patients have been killed by the virus, while 1, 406, 793 others have been discharged, leaving Germany with 342, 507 active cases of Coronavirus(10, 781 new cases and 339 deaths* ) and South Africa now the 17^th country worst hit, reporting 1, 100,748 all time cases,  29, 577 deaths and 903, 679 recoveries, leaving South Africa with 167, 492 active cases of Coronavirus(11, 859 new cases and 402 deaths*).
