PM Abdalla Hamdok of Sudan survives assassination

KHARTOUM, Sudan – The Prime Minister of Sudan, Abdalla Hamdok has survived an assassination attempt following a car bomb which detonated on his motorcade.
The bomb blast occurred near the North-eastern entrance of Kober bridge, which connects Khartoum North to the city centre, where the Prime Minister’s office is located.
The road side explosion left several vehicles in Abdalla Hamdok’s convoy severely damaged. The Prime Minister however escaped unhurt from the incident and has been moved to a safe location, the statement from the PM’s office said.

Already, officials of the presidency has described the incident as an assassination attempt, calling on the people of Sudan to go into the street and show their support for Prime Minister Abdallah Hamdok.
PM Abdalla Hamdok who was appointed head of the transitional government in August, 2019.
“An explosion hit as Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok’s car was driving by but thank God no-one was hurt,” Ali Bakhit, in the PM’s office, told AFP.
