The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended inauguration of its national Finance Committee. The inauguration was initially scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2013 but was suspended indefinitely.
PDP SUSPENDS INAUGURATION OF FINANCE COMMITTEE
A statement signed by Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Olisa Metuh said a new date for the event will be announced in due course.He said the party reached the decision to suspend the inauguration after a meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC). Although no reason was given for suspension of the inauguration, but many believed that it is connected with the crisis which arose from the convention held last weekend in Abuja to allow members of the party resolved the crisis.
Former President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and six other governors walked out of the convention only to announce a parallel PDP at a press conference with Alhaji Kaw Baraje as national chairman and Col. Olagunsoye Oyinola as national Secretary. The Northern state governors involved are those of Niger, Babangida Aliyu; Sokoto, Aliyu Wammako; Jigawa, Sule Lamido; Kano, Rabiu Musa Kwankawanso; Adamawa, Muritala Nyako, and Kwara, Abdulfatai Ahmed,
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state later joined the group where they addressed the press. Meanwhile, the party has invited all states and zonal youth and women leaders for a seminar today (Thursday) at the Wadata Plaza, headquarters of the party at 12 noon.
