The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) of plotting to destabilise the country, as a result of its persistent call for impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan following recent development in Rivers State.
ACN PLOTS TO DESTABILISE NIGERIA SAYS PDP
A statement signed by Ag. Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Tony Okeke explained that brawls in parliament are common features all over the world, wondering how a common fray in the Rivers State House of Assembly would translate into an impeachable offence for the President.
“This is a sign that the ACN is bereft of direction, plagued by inadequate understanding of the law and only seeks to destabilise the polity for selfish reasons”, he said.
According to him, the president has nothing to do with activities in Rivers State House of Assembly.
“Much as we do not condone the violence witnessed recently in the Rivers State House of Assembly, it is imperative to point out that brawls are usual phenomenon in parliaments and on no occasion has any reasonably person called for the impeachment of the President of a country as a result of legislative brawl”, Okeke said.
