July 1, 2015 – The leadership tussle in Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) worldwide deepened  on Wednesday as mother of one of the claimants to spiritual head of the church, Rev. Mathew Olatoso Oshoffa today lost his elderly mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Oshoffa, aka Iya Amidu.

She died early today. She was  80.  We gathered that condition of the woman who has been sick for some time now got worse when she heard that her son was in the race for leadership of the church.

A source who is very close to the church told our correspondent that the Iya Amidu fainted on Tuesday when she heard that the church has gathered  to address a press conference as part of effort to solve the leadership crisis currently rocking the church.

At the press conference addressed by Superior Evangelist Samson Banjo in behalf of the CCC Board of Trustees, the church rejected Olatoso Mathew Oshoffa as leader of the church, stressing that the church for now has no spiritual head by the name Pastor but that Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa remains leader of the church.

Olatoso Oshoffa who had earlier addressed a press conference with notable leaders of the church said his emergence was ordained by God, adding that it had been foretold even before the demise of his father, Samuel Oshoffa, adding that his emergence is sequel to the court judgement that nullified the emergence of his elder brother; Emmanuel Mobiyina Oshoffa.

He said the main mission given to him after being anointed by God is to unite the Celestial family and attributed struggle for leadership in the church to handiwork of Satan.

According to him, the church has failed to progress in the last 12 years under the leadership of his elder brother, Emmanuel Oshoffa. Recall that an Ilaro High Court on March 26, 2015, terminated the tenure of his elder brother (Emmanuel Oshoffa), under whom Olatoso served as personal assistant.
