Tehran issues month-long deadline to Trump as Middle East teeters on the brink
By SCM REPORTER I May 4, 2026
IRAN has slapped a 30-day “peace deadline” on the United States, demanding a total end to the bloody regional conflict and the immediate withdrawal of Western forces.
In a high-stakes gamble that has sent shockwaves through Whitehall and Washington, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi declared that “the time for talk is over.”
The hardline envoy warned that Tehran will no longer settle for “temporary truces” and is demanding a full-scale climbdown from President Donald Trump’s administration.
Speaking from Tehran, Araghchi laid out a “clear proposal” that reads like a total surrender list for the West. The demands include:
AN IMMEDIATE end to all regional conflict.
LIFTING of the strangling economic sanctions.
SCRAPPING the naval blockade currently choking Iranian ports.
GETTING OUT: A total withdrawal of foreign troops from the region.
”We have given a 30-day deadline to resolve these issues,” Araghchi warned. “If the United States truly wants peace, as it claims in private messages, it must accept these sovereign terms.”
The ultimatum comes just days after President Trump told Congress that “hostilities have terminated” following a tense two-month campaign of air strikes alongside Israel.
However, the commander-in-chief has already scoffed at early drafts of the Iranian plan. Speaking from the White House, Trump told reporters: “They’re asking for things I can’t agree to. Either we make a real deal, or we finish them forever.”
The US is reportedly pushing for a 15-point plan that would see Iran scrap its nuclear program entirely—something the Ayatollahs have so far refused to do.
The current crisis exploded on February 28, 2026, when the US and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury, a series of massive strikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites and military infrastructure.
The Fallout: The strikes reportedly killed high-ranking Iranian officials and crippled the country’s power grid.
The Stalemate: A shaky ceasefire has held since early April, but tensions remain at boiling point in Lebanon and the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistan has been acting as the middleman, shuttling “private messages” between Washington and Tehran as both sides try to avoid a full-scale ground war.
The clock is ticking. With 30 days to go, the world is holding its breath to see if Trump will deal or deliver on his threat to “blast them away.”
What do you think of Iran’s 30-day deadline—is it a genuine move for peace or a dangerous bluff?
