IBADAN, Nigeria — The legendary Lekan Salami Stadium, known to the locals as the “Adamasingba Fortress,” was rocking this afternoon as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Niger Tornadoes in a pulsating NPFL encounter.
In a venue steeped in West African football history, the “Oluyole Warriors” proved why the Ibadan turf remains one of the most intimidating destinations for visiting teams.
The atmosphere was electric from the first whistle, with the home supporters creating a wall of sound that seemed to pull the Stars across the finish line.
The home side took the lead just before the break when Gbolagade Adelowo coolly converted from the penalty spot in stoppage time (45+2′), sending the stadium into a frenzy.
Shooting Stars doubled their advantage in the 66th minute through Promise Awosanmi, whose clinical finish appeared to have put the game out of reach for the “Ikon Allah Boys.”
However, the visitors from Minna refused to go quietly. Kufre Ebong pulled one back in the dying moments (90+2′), leading to a nervous final few minutes under the Ibadan sun.
Ultimately, the 3SC defense held firm at the Lekan Salami, ensuring all three points remained in the Oyo State Capital.
