TEHRAN – After twelve days of war originated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Iran and Israel have agreed to a truce.
The truce came just as Iran carried out missiles attacks on Al-Udeid American base in Qatar with a powerful missile attack in Operation Heralds of Victory.
This base is the headquarters of the Air Force Central Command and the largest strategic asset of the American army in West Asia.
President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire on the social media.
The ceasefire were proposed by Trump and mediated by Qatar.
“I would like to thank the esteemed Emir of Qatar for all his efforts towards peace in the region.
“No Americans or Qataris were killed or injured in the attack on Al Udeid.
“Iran officially responded to our destruction of its nuclear facilities with a very weak response, which is what we expected and confronted very effectively.
“We congratulate the world… It’s a time for peace.
“13 out of 15 missiles launched by Iran were shot down
“I would like to thank Iran for notifying us early of the attack, which allowed for the attack not to cause loss of life or injury
“Iran may move towards peace and harmony in the region, and I encourage it”, President Trump said.
Trump also wrote on the social media
“It has been fully agreed between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE .
“Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World,” Trump added.
,Speaking on Fox News U.S. Vice President JD Vance praised Trump for getting the deal “across the finish line.”
“We were actually working on that just as I left the White House to come over here. So that’s good news, that the president was able to get that across the finish line,” Vance said
However reports by Reuters show that a senior Iranian official confirmed the ceasefire.
But from Israel, there is still no comment after the cabinet meeting. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Netanyahu has instructed cabinet members not to comment on the truce.
