BERLIN – Jan-Lennard Struff has dethroned Olympic champion Alexander Zverev to become the highest-ranked German tennis player in the ATP rankings ahead of the French Open.

Struff moved up two places to 26th in the overall rankings, while Zverev dropped from 22nd to 27th following his round of 16 exit at the Italian Open.

It’s the first time since August 2016 that Zverev is not the highest-ranked German in the ATP rankings. Meanwhile, he hasn’t been ranked this low since September 2016.

For Struff, this is the best mark in his career so far. Both players will be seeded at the French Open, which starts on Sunday.

Carlos Alcaraz replaced Novak Djokovic at the top. The Serbian is now third behind Italian Open winner Daniil Medvedev.
