ABIDJAN- The Bafana Bafana on Saturday night got a better side of their familiar opponent, Cape Verde, beating them 2 – 1 on Penalty shoot out.

The encounter, which seems to be the toughest in the qualification for the semi final stage dragged into extra time 0-0.

But it was South Africa that  was lucky this time sending the very tactical Cape Verde team out of the tournament and booked a space for themselves in the Semi final stage.

Bebe, Willy Semedo and Larose Duarte lost the first three penalty kicks for Cape Verde, while South Africa’s Teboho scored from the penalty spot but his colleagues, Lepas and Modibo failed to find the net.

Modibe also fired blank but his teammate Mothobi found the back of the net, giving South Africa this victory.

There was no need for the Bafana Bafana to take the fifth penalty shots as they stormed the arena in wild jubilation.
