Old Motor Spare Parts Market Obosi defeat Nnewi New Motor Parts 4-1

ONITSHA, Anambra – Old Motor Spare Parts Market, Obsoi, otherwise known as ‘Ngbuka Obosi’, on Saturday, sealed their comfortable passage to the last four of the football event of the 2023 edition of the Anambra State Markets Competition following an emphatic 4-1 thrashing of Nnewi New Motor Parts Market.

The thrilling clash took place at the Godwin Achebe Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha, with two goals on either half of the epic fixture. 

The ‘Mgbuka Obosi’ lads were dominant right from kick-off, with Toochukwu Okafor opening the floodgate of goals just past the quarter hour mark.

Okwuchukwu Ezuruike doubled his side’s advantage six minutes past the half hour mark as the coach Charles charges went into the break with 2-0 advantage.

The ‘Obosi Boys’ continued from where they left off in the second period with their enthralling rendition of fluid and crisp football to the admiration and cheering of the scanty spectators.

And Chidera Michael claimed the undisputed hero of the sunny afternoon clash with a sumptuous and extraordinary brace.

The Nnewi side consolatory goal came in between Chidera’s brace. Old Motor Spare Parts Market, Obosi, now joins  Ogbo Rod Market, Atani and Nkwo Umunze Market in the last four of the tournament.

At the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, Iron Dealers Market, Atani, otherwise known as Ogbo Rod, settled for a one all (1-1) draw with Nkwo Market Umunze to qualify from Group A.

Old Motor Spare Parts Obosi, Coach, Charles, was on ‘Cloud 9’ after his team’s triumph.

“I’m happy, not only with my team’s win but as well the players overall performance”, starts the traders cup veteran coach.

“Honestly speaking, I was a bit jittery facing the Nnewi New Motor Parts Market Team. But, I had to face it, with my experience in the past editions of the tournament.

“I remember winning the cup twice, back-to-back in the past when it was being sponsored by Tony One Week. I was close to winning it then for keeps but something dramatic happened in the final and I was denied that opportunity”.

The elated coach disclosed that his sight was supremely fixed on the ultimate prize.

“I don’t know who our opponents in the semi final would be”, Coach Charles added. “But one thing is clear: when we entered into this competition, the ambition was to win the cup. I’ve not deviated from that objective.

“But it’s going to be one game at a time. We’ll take the games as they come, with respect and regard for our opponents but determined and committed to achieving our target which is to win the cup for Old Motor Spare Parts Market and its football loving Chairman and his executives”, the elated coach concluded.
