MUNICH – Negotiations with Bayern Munich over the transfer fee for Dino Toppmöller is what’s holding Eintracht Frankfurt from signing him as a coach, according to the Bild newspaper.
Toppmöller was Julian Nagelsmann’s assistant coach until he was dismissed in March, but still has a contract with Bayern. The report said the release fee is at a mid-six-figure sum, but the recent personnel changes at the Bavarian club could complicate the process.
Bayern are without a sporting director since dismissing Hasan Salihamidzic around a week ago. The club also parted ways with CEO Oliver Kahn.
Toppmöller is expected to replace Oliver Glasner, who is set to say goodbye to the team on Monday after underperforming in the Bundesliga.
The Austrian led the Eagles to Europa League glory last season and they will be in Europe again next season in the Conference League play-offs.
