CHECHEN – The Republic of Chechen has launched its first satellite into space. Called, Akhmat-1, the satellite was launched into space using the Soyuz 2.1 B launch vehicle from the Vostochny cosmodrome.

Chechen is a country of about 1.5 million people.

“I want to emphasize that this is our first satellite that entered the Earth’s orbit. It was developed by specialists from the Chechen State University (CSU)named after the Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov together with experts from the South-Western State University as part of the Planet Duty Program”, Head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Akhmadovich Kadyrov announced.

In October last year, the CSU team received a grant to develop their own satellite, equipped with an automatic dependent surveillance-broadcasting module.

The satellite will will help in collecting information on the location of aircraft. In addition, it has a radio transmitter that will broadcast welcome audio recordings from our students, the university said.

“Let me emphasize that the Chechen expert team has far-reaching plans for the development of this area. This year, they took a grant for the implementation of the satellite again.

“Presumably, the second satellite will undergo some changes: it will be equipped with a video camera and high-tech sensors for measuring the Earth’s magnetic field”, the statement announcing the launch said.

Currently, work is underway to create a Mission Control Center based on the ChGU, which will allow receiving data from satellites directly.

“I am very glad that our students are seriously engaged in the development of such an important scientific area in the region. I express my sincere gratitude to my dear brother, rector of the Chernobyl State University named after the Hero of Russia Akhmat-Khadzhi Kadyrov Zaurbek Saidov and everyone involved in this work.

“I am convinced that with such high-class experts, we will have a great future and new discoveries in this area. I sincerely wish the guys good luck and success in conquering the boundless space”, R Kadyrov said.
