AWKA, Anambra – The coordinator of Anambra State National Youths Service corps (NYSC), Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma has lamented about the inadequate accommodation for Camp Officials Army, Police, in its orientation camp at Umuawulu/Mbaukwu.
She also raised the alarm of the effect of devasting menace of erosion within the orientation camp, that has been threatening the area.
She made the compliant during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch A stream 11 orientation course on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC unity permanent orientation camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka south local government council of Anambra State.
” I wish to appreciate the State Government for their support to the Scheme in the State. May I also remind your Excellency that Erosion menace at this Orientation Camp, Lack of adequate accommodation for Camp Officials (Army, Police, NSCDC, DSS, Man O’ War and Red Cross etc) as well as absence of befitting State Secretariat complex for the operations of the Scheme in the state are some of the challenges that need urgent intervention” she said .
According to the coordinator, the erosion is a serious threat to the scheme in the state. Iruma also said that the posting of corps members are mainly based on request and that rejections are not allowed.
She commended the host communities, Umuawulu and Mbaukwu for their hospitality to the scheme.
“To my esteemed and hard working Camp Officials, I thank you for your contributions, and sacrifices towards the success of this course. To my dear Corps Members, I wish you all a fruitful and hitch free service year. Go and contribute greatly to the development of your host communities” she said.
