MUNICH – Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel plans to rotate his starting line-up only in case of a medical recommendation, even though the team is still alive in three competitions.
“Our situation only allows for us to think one game at a time. If there’s something we have to manage, then it will only be because there has been a recommendation from the medical team,” Tuchel told a news conference on Monday.
After defeating Borussia Dortmund 4-2 on Saturday and taking back the Bundesliga lead, Bayern face Freiburg on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the German Cup.
“Whoever I put my trust in has to repay it. Now it’s about producing the best possible performance tomorrow. A win is the ideal preparation for the next,” Tuchel said.
Striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had a knock against Dortmund and didn’t take part in Monday’s training session as precaution, but “it’s looking like he’ll be able to play tomorrow,” the coach said.
Mazraoui is will and also didn’t train, while Tel is still in rehab.
Besides the Bundesliga and the Cup, Bayern are also chasing the Champions League title. Their first quarter-final match-up against Manchester City is on April 11.
