BERLIN – Former top 10 player Andrea Petkovic will work as a mentor for young German talent, the German Tennis Federation (DTB) said on Tuesday.
The DTB said that Petkovic is to advise rising talents, train with them and be with them at tournaments, rate their potential and help develop concepts.
“I know how difficult and exhausting the way to the top is and what kind of hurdles you have to overcome,” Petkovic said in a DTB statement.
“After 16 years as a professional I want to support the young players with what I really have a lot of: Experience. I’m looking forward to it because I’m on fire for tennis and want to help others make it to the top.”
Petkovic, 35, ended her career last year. She won eight singles titles, reached the French Open semi-finals, and was ninth in the WTA rankings.
