MELBORNE, Australia – Embattled world No. 1 tennis star, Novak Djokovic today regained his visa which was cancelled last week by authorities in Australia following his refusal to take Coronavirus vaccine ahead of the Australian Open due to commence January 17.

Judge Anthony Kelly  reinstated  Djokovic’s visa and ordered the Australian authority to release  the tennis super star within 30 minutes of the ruling from the hotel where he has been on quarantine since his arrival in Melbourne,   Australia.

Shortly after the ruling, Government lawyer, Christopher Tran told the court that the Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs, Mr. Alex Hawke will now decide whether or not to exercise his personal powers of  visa cancellation.

Under Australian laws, the minister concerned could exercise his personal powers to cancel visa.

Recall that Novak Djokovic was one of those exempted from COVID19 vaccination by organizers of the Australian Open.

The organizers had said that only vaccinated athletes would be admitted into the tournament except COVID19 survivors and those with documented evidence of having adverse reaction to the vaccine.

But speaking after revoking the visa, PM of Australia, Mr. Scot John Morrison  said that the tennis star did not meet the criteria for medical exemption from vaccination insisting that rules are rules.

Novak Djokovic was stopped at point of entry into Australia following his public opinion on voluntary and not compulsory vaccination and was immediately quarantined in a hotel.
