LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, on Tuesday 13th July, 2021 recovered a total of six vehicles, made up of four cars, one bus and an articulated 40 feet containerized vehicle off Odo Iyalaro bridge inward Maryland when an articulated truck suffered mechanical failure.
LASEMA activated the State’s Emergency Response Plans to the distress call that emanated via the Agency’s 767/112 Toll Free Emergency lines at 6:05a.m with the LRT arriving the incident site in less than 10 minutes to conduct a recovery operation that recorded no loss of lives, as the two adult males that sustained injuries were promptly attended “on site of incidence” in the Agency’s Pre-Hospital Care facilities, then conveyed to Gbagada General Hospital for further treatment.
Speaking on the incident, LASEMA GM, Dr. Oke Osanyintolu said upon arrival of the Tiger Team at the incident scene, a multiple accident was encountered.
“Information gathered at the scene of the incident revealed that a 40 ft containerized truck with plate no MUS-484XW had a break failure and rammed into 5 vehicles (a commercial bus with registration number; AAA-314XR, a Dongfeng M3 space bus EPE-122GN, a Hyundai car EPE- 941AP, a Toyota Corolla car KSF-842DZ and a Tata bus KTU-558XH) along the Odo Iyalaro Bridge thereby obstructing vehicular movements.
“There was no loss of lives, however, 2 adult males sustained injuries and were attended to by the Agency’s Paramedics who rendered Pre-Hospital Care treatments before moving them to Gbagada General Hospital for further treatment”, he said.
According to him, all the affected vehicles have been recovered off the road with the aid of the agency’s heavy duty equipment, the Super Metro and Light Tow Truck and the case have been handed over to Officers of the Nigerian Police Force from the Alausa Police Station”, he said.
