Coronavirus: Cases in China drops to 814, Nigeria’s case rises to 1,932

LAGOS, Nigeria – The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) has confirmed  204 new cases of Coronavirus, making a total of 1,932 cases in Nigeria, whereas in China the number of cases has continued to be on the decline.  

China now has just 814 cases, showing that Nigeria has never been forthright in the fight since the first Italian Index case was discovered in Lagos, Nigeria.

Our correspondent reports that the number in Nigeria kept increasing due to very poor contact tracing techniques and lack of firmness on the part of incident commander in Lagos and elsewhere unlike the experience during the Ebola epidemic.

China  has a total of 83, 944 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 4, 637 deaths.   But a total of 78, 493 people have recovered and been discharged leaving China with just 814 cases of Coronavirus based on good leadership and forthrightness in the fight against the pandemic.

However in Nigeria, out of the 204 new cases in the country, 80 were discovered in Kano, 45 in Lagos, 12 in Gombe, 9 in Bauchi, 9 in Sokoto, 7 in Borno, 7 in Edo, 6 in Rivers, 6 in Ogun, 4 in Abuja, 4 in Akwa Ibom, 4 in  Bayelsa, 4 in Kaduna, 4 in Oyo, 2 in Delta state, 2 in Nasarawa, 1 in Ondo and 1 in Kebbi State.

Out of the 1,932 cases in Nigeria, 319 patients have been treated and discharged, while 58 people are dead.

Meanwhile there are currently 3,249, 667 confirmed cases worldwide  with 232, 936 deaths based on statistics from the Centre for Systems Science and Engineering, John Hopkins University, Maryland. According to the centre,  the United States still leads among the most affected countries in terms of confirmed cases and deaths.

The United States has reported 1, 067, 289 confirmed cases with 62, 906 deaths, followed by Spain with 213, 435 confirmed cases with 24, 543 deaths, followed by Italy with 205, 563 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 27, 967 deaths. Next is the United Kingdom which has reported  172, 478 with 26, 842 deaths.

France is the next most afflicted country currently, reporting 167, 299 cases of Coronavirus with 24, 410 deaths, trailed closely by Germany with 163,009 confirmed cases with 6, 623 deaths, followed by Turkey with 120, 204 cases of the pandemic with 3, 174 deaths. 

Next in line is Russia which has reported 106, 498 confirmed cases with 1,073 deaths, followed by Iran, 94, 640 with 6,021 deaths. 

Brazil is next with 85, 340 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 5, 901 deaths followed by China with 83, 944 confirmed cases of Coronavirus with 4, 637 deaths.  

A total of 78, 493 people have recovered in China, leaving  China with just 814 cases of Coronavirus.
