IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – A teacher in a Lagos secondary school teacher, Ajayi Akintunde who compelled his female student to perform oral sex on him for pass marks was today granted bail of N500,000 by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Yewande Aje-Afunwa, ordered the defendant to produce two sureties who must be gainfully employed with proof of tax payments to the Lagos State Government. Sureties should be related to the defendant, the court said. The defendant, whose address was not given in court, was docked for unlawful sexual assault.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Asp. Peter Nwangwu, told the court that the offence was committed sometime in 2018 at Fazi-I-Omat High School at Iwaya in Lagos.
The defendant, who was arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command, however, denied committing the offence. Nwangwu said the offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised). Lagos State Commissioner had earlier paraded the defendant for allegedly forcing an 18-year-old pupil (name withheld), to perform oral sex(sucking his penis) for marks.
The victim explained that on two different occasions, she succumbed to pressure and gave the teacher oral sex. She alleged that the teacher further demanded sex if she ever wanted to graduate from the school with her classmates, but she refused.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, confirmed the teacher was arrested and paraded at the police command. NAN
