LAGOS, Nigeria – Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has lamented what he described as continued detention of his son-in-law and lawyer.
In a statement on the social media, Atiku said, one of the two was detained since three weeks ago, while the other was picked just recently.
According to him, the offence they committed was simply supporting his presidential ambition. He has urged those persecuting them to remember that a government’s mandate is to pursue peace and justice for all, not just those who support them.

“My son in law and lawyer have been detained, one for 3 weeks and the other recently. They are paying the price for supporting me.
“I urge those now persecuting them to remember that a government’s mandate is to pursue peace and justice for all, and not just those who support them”, he said.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was defeated in the February 23 Presidential election by President Muhammadu Buhari. But Atiku has alleged that he won the election but was manipulated in favour of the President Muhammadu Buhari and has vowed to get his mandate through the courts.
