LONDON – Detectives investigating the murder of Elyon Poku in Stamford Hill have arrested an eighth person. One of them, an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder in Stanford on Sunday, 6 January by Essex Police on behalf of the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.
He was taken to an east London police station and has subsequently been bailed to return on a date in early February. Seven other people arrested have all been released under investigation.
They are: a 28-year-old man [A] an 18-year-old man [B], a 29-year-old man [C] a 17-year-old man [D], an 18-year-old man [E], an 18-year-old man [F], an 18-year-old man [G].
Elyon, aged 20, who lived in Stamford Hill, died after he was stabbed during a party in the early hours of Saturday, 22 September.
“Police were called at around 00:50hrs on 22 September, to reports of a fight at a flat in Wilderton Road, N16. Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, and found three men suffering serious injuries”, the Met police said, adding that both police and paramedics administered first aid to Elyon before he was taken to hospital with stab wounds. He died at around 04:30hrs.
A post-mortem examination gave cause of death to be shock and haemorrhage as a result of his wounds.
“A 17-year-old boy was also found with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The third victim, a 24-year-old man, was found with a head injury. He too was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries”, Met police said, adding that
investigation is being led by detectives by the Met’s Homicide and Major Crime Command.
