ABEOKUTA, Nigeria – Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who is contesting for a senatorial seat under the All Progressive Congress(APC) has told the governorship candidate of his party in the state, Mr. Dapo Abiodun that he will not work for his victory in the 2019 general election.
Amosun who spoke at a stakeholders meeting in Abeokuta, Ogun State said he will work for the victory of Adekunle Akinlade, who has left the APC to become the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Amosun spoke just as 26 members of the Ogun State House of Assembly and two commissioners defected to the APM. He said he will contest as Senator under the APC and work for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
He told stakeholders that he tried his best to stop the defection of Akinlade and other aggrieved candidates but that now that they have moved, they have all have his blessing ahead of the poll and that he will do everything within his power to ensure that they are victorious.
“When these people came, they told me they are leaving the APC, I said ‘no’ but I couldn’t stop them. In fact, Akinlade has my full support.
