SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia – The Super Eagles of Nigeria today crashed out of the FIFA 2018 World Cup, losing to Argentina at the group stage.
Argentina opened the scoreline in the 14 minutes through Lionel Messi but Nigeria was not able to equalize, making the scoreline to end 1-0 by half time.
The Super Eagles came in more determined in the second half and got a lot of chances. Nigeria however got an equaliser through Victor Moses in a penalty kick. Argentina went into the lead for a second time when Macos Rojo scored in the 86th minutes.
Nigeria had chances but failed to convert their goals and will have to be on the next flight to Nigeria while Argentina will move on.
Messi and Mikel Obi secured yellow card in the encounter.
