London, July 22, 2016 – USA’s Keni Harrison few minutes ago broke the 100m hurdles world record at the International Athletics Federation ( IAAF) Diamond League meeting in London, clocking 12.20 (0.3m/s).
She won her heat earlier in the evening in 12.40, but went significantly quicker in the final. Her winning time took 0.04 off her previous PB and 0.01 off the previous world record set in 1988 by Yordanka Donkova.
“I wanted to come out here with a vengeance to show these girls what I have,” said Harrison, who finished sixth at the US Olympic Trials, missing out on selection for next month’s Olympic Games.
“That 12.40 got my confidence back. I knew I had it in me, I ran as hard as I could today.”
