Poland, June 28, 2016 – The 2nd IAAF World U20 Coaches Conference will be held in Bydgoszcz, Poland on 25 July, following the conclusion of the IAAF World U20 Championships Bydgoszcz 2016 (19-24 July).
The build-up phase in athletics is crucial in every athlete’s development. The main objective of this conference, the IAAF said is to keep coaches informed, bringing consistency and competence to the coaches who play an essential part in athletes’ careers.
Held at the conference hall (Sala Konferencyjna) in the Zawisza Stadium, the IAAF has invited a number of experts in various fields to speak at the conference whose knowledge, experience and input will further qualify coaches who train athletes in the age group.
The conference will feature the following speakers and presentations: Malek El-Hebil, IAAF Development and Member Relations Department Director- Build-up from event group to top performance in world-class athletics.
Herbert Czingon, German pole vault coach will tackle coaching U20 world-class athletes for long-term success – Best practise to ensure a long-term career for U20 athletes, while Cristina Fink, director of sport psychology will discuss psychological aspects of drop-out in the build-up training phase; Don Babbitt, US throws coach will handle modern strength and speed training in the build-up training phase (16-19y).
There will also be simultaneous interpretation of the sessions into English, French, Spanish and Polish. Gift bags and USB keys will be provided to all registered participants at the end of the conference.
