June 15, 2015 – Convener of Coalition of Democrats for Electoral Reforms, (CODER), Chief Ayo Opadokun  has  called on All Progressives Congress (APC) to resist attempt by the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to wrest power from it through the back door, noting that doing otherwise will  make the party to lose sympathy from Nigerians.

Opadokun who was also an active member of National Democratic Coalition (NADECO)  spoke during a courtesy call on the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. He condemned lawmakers for electing Bukola Saraki as President of the Senate and  Yakubu Dogara as Speaker House of Representatives.

He saod that the APC may lose the sympathy of Nigerians if it loses  the National Assembly to the PDP.

“For me what happened at the National Assembly is a disaster, the people that have been so rejected by the Nigerian people have been returned in a dubious manner because if you have Deputy Senate President, a PDP man, and David Mark now trying to have the position of the Majority leader, it is so unfortunate, I think that the party must take a very strong stand, if they don’t, they will lose the sympathy of Nigerians” he added.

Speaking on Nigerian’s impatient with President Muhammadu Buhari as regards appointment of Ministers, he said, “Nigerians have right to be impatient due to many years of wicked governance over them, but they should just take it easy with this government because what have been wrong for almost 25 years cannot be made right in two weeks.”

Opadokun maintained that President Buhari remained the antidote for the social ills bedevlling the country which, according to him, are indiscipline and dishonesty.

“Buhari represents an effective antidote for the two major ills of Nigeria. I believe very strongly that Buhari will bring unto governance in Nigeria, self actualisation of discipline and because he would do that,Nigerians will follow him later on. He was known to have live a frugal lifestyle, he is not interested in your money, if you have a meeting with Buhari, you can go to sleep, he will not derail. He has a very good companion in Professor Yemi Osinbajo, a known workaholic. ”

On Lagos state and the new government led by Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Opadokun explained that the state is on course and being led by a focused youngman that is ready to deliver on the pact he signed with the people of Lagos.

“He needs the co-operation and assistance of people of Lagos because this is the centre if everything in the country. The economic of Lagos state is more than that of about 30 African countries put together. I know that Ambode as a first class brain, he would deliver. ”
