May 19,  2015 – It seems that  the last is yet to be heard about highhandedness of security forces who take pleasure in beating defenceless civilians almost to  pulp. This time, the culprit is Mohammed Shuaibu,  a Public Affairs Officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

Mohammed Shuaibu, Public Affairs Officer in FAAN

He was on Sunday evening beating black and blue and badly bruised by a group of officers decked in the uniform of Nigerian Airforce , stationed at Murtala Muhammad International Aiport (MMIA), Ikeja.

Muhammad, who is managing to cope with internal bleeding through his nose and mouth, was rescued from the heartless Airforce officers and rushed to the Aviation clinic at FAAN headquarters, before he was referred to the Airforce General Hospital early Monday morning.

An eye witness who spoke to our correspondent said he rescued Mohammed when he felt the officers would  have killed him if nobody intervened.

“I suffered their beating too in an effort to drag him away from the Airforce guys. Although, I didn’t know what really the matter is, but I saw a young man in FAAN uniform being beaten mercilessly. He couldn’t even talk again,” he said.

Mohammed, we gathered saw his friend who had just arrived the MMIA aboard Turkish Airlines on Sunday night off to his car under the arrival bridge only to find the Airforce men removing the number plate of his friend’s car. He introduced himself as a FAAN staff and challenged their action, forcing the officers to knock him down, pummeling and pulling him here and there.

Other security agents such as the Civil Defence and police officers at the scene could not help the situation since they were too scared to intercept and control the situation.
