February 10, 2015 – Twenty-nine old photographer, Ejeh Smith who was brutalized with his wife, Grace recently by a policeman at Ikoyi, Lagos has been arrested for buying stolen 100liters of diesel oil from private security men at Ikoyi area.
An authoritative source revealed that a woman who owned a bungalow in Ikoyi has been complaining about the way liters of diesel supplied to her house were disappearing from the oil tank for some times.
We gathered that continuous disappearance of diesel with no trace made the owner of the house to install CCTV camera at some strategic place in the house to detect the culprits.
“The cat was let out on Monday morning when the woman checked the CCTV camera and saw how two of her private security men drained diesel from a tank in the house and handed the two kegs to somebody after collecting money”.
“The woman alerted the police who arrested the security men and during interrogation, confessed to have been on the business for long and revealed the name and address of Ejeh who is the main buyer of stolen oil in the area. This led to the arrest of Ejeh who also made confessional statement that he had been on the business for long”, source disclosed.
It was gathered that when Ejeh was taken to Ikoyi Police station, one of the policemen recognized his face and challenged him, which he confessed and started covering his face with both hands.
However, the owner of the house (name withheld), where Ejeh and two others stole the 100 liter of diesel has insisted that the suspects must be taken to court for prosecution.
Meanwhile, other security men in the area who were indulged in such deal have started developing cool feet as the information went round Ikoyi area that Ejeh had made confessional statement and revealed other security men that have been doing the business with him.
It would be recalled that Ejeh and his wife, Grace were brutalized by a policeman at Ikoyi area while coming from Obalende at the Lekki Roundabout, while the couple was in a taxi en route to their home at Parkview Estate at about 10pm.
The Police Public Relations officer, Lagos Command was not available to confirm the story but police source at Ikoyi Police station confirmed the story, saying “The suspects may be taken to SCID, Panti, State command or taken to court for prosecution”.
