Some of the homes up for grab by Lagosians

January 7, 2015 – Lagos State Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola today said the Federal Government has no clue to unmasking the challenges rocking the nation.

Fashola made the revelation at an occasion to inaugurate the Cooperative Home Ownership Incentive Scheme, CHOIS City at Agbowa, Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area, LCDA and the first Solar-powered Primary Health Care, PHC centre, Epe.

He said that everything the Federal Government told the citizens and foreign investors about the country especially on insecurity, rebasing of the country’s economy were false.

“First they were ignorant and later they lied to Nigerians. This indicates that they don’t know what to do on the challenges confront this country especially on insecurity.

“On insecurity facing the country, first they (Federal Government) lied that their political opponent were the cause. Later, they lied that it was people in their government. After that, they told Nigerians that those behind the insecurity in Nigeria were foreigners. Again, in their usual tactics, they came out to say that some saboteurs were behind the insecurity in the country.”

He said he current administration is clueless, stressing that the Vice President, Namadi Sambo made wrong and ignorant statement on Lagos. He said people were leaving Lagos due to the high tax regime.

“I don’t think he (Sambo) moved around the state to see how the population of the Lagos was increasing daily. Also, they said that we were selling property to residents of Lagos at over N100 million. They are ignorant. And they have shown it publicly.”

He noted that the State Government designed the Lagos HOMS to address shortage of housing in the state which was increasing daily.

“The challenge before the state government was to provide affordable housing for residents of the state,”

Fashola appealed to Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, (JUSUN) to end their strike action and return to work, saying, “I made this plea in the interest of the masses who rely on the judiciary for fair judgment.”

Earlier, the President of Lagos CHOIS, the agency managing the CHOIS City, Brigadier-General Tunde Reis, said the CHOIS City was a sub-urban community that would provide opportunity for low and medium income earners to have their own houses and that the City will provide houses for 10, 000 families in the state.
