November 1, 2014 – It is quite natural for individuals to want to look better. Young boys and girls even adults tend to sometimes go to any length to look better. Boys love to dress nice, wear nice haircuts and shoes while most girls would put on eye lashes, foundation and other make up to give them nice looks so as to be appreciated mostly by the opposite sex.
But ironically, most girls admire themselves the more but love it more when those of the opposite sex tell them how beautiful they are and boys have often exploited this to their selfish advantage.
It is quite often to hear girls say silly things about themselves. “I am too skinny”, or I am not busty enough”, I am too black, my back ass are not big enough, my breast are not firm enough and all the rest. Quite often, they seems to forget that Jehovah in his infinite mercy created every one of them perfect, Deut: 32:4; Ecclesiastics 3:11. And to correct these assumed defects, some have visited beauticians for surgical operations that goes by various names, breast enhancement, tummy tuck , buttock enhancement , rhinoplasty and the rest.
For some the consequence has been good but for others it has been disastrous. Nigerians can relate to Stella Obasanjo, wife of Nigeria’s former Head of State who died few days to her 60th birthday after an unsuccessful cosmetic surgery, tummy tuck.
It is however not surprising that human beings have innate desire to look good. One Psychologist, Dr. James Comer says that how you look can indeed have a profound effect upon the way others view and treat you. “Body image is part of self-image.
It can affect a person’s self-confidence and what he does and does not do in life”, he added. But when you become so self-conscious that you withdraw from others or feel bad about yourself, then such concern are no longer healthy, says the Book Questions Young People Ask, Answers that Work.
However you may battle with some defects that seems not in a hurry to go away.
However, to enhance you looks, you may want to try some of these suggestions without harming yourself. You might try experimenting with clothing and hairstyles that enhance your physical assets and downplay your flaws.
One popular fashion writer, Sharon Faelten noted that a large nose can be de-emphasized by a girl wearing a full hairstyle or unswept crown. “Sharp regular features can likewise be softened by wearing a wavy or curly hairstyle and judicious use of make -up can downplay a girl’s facial flaws”, says the book, Questions Young People Ask , Answers that Work.
Your choice of apparel can also be of assistance. In line with this, experts suggest you choose colours that enhance your complexion and styles that flatter. “Pay attention to a garment’s lines: vertical lines have a slimming effect; horizontal lines, the opposite”, the book added.
So when you are bothered about your looks, just think about make-up and clothing that can give you the whao look instead of withdrawing into your shell since you can be attractive irrespective of your size.
