JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – Public expectation has been dashed – the expectations that former President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma will either surrender to  Nkandla or Johannesburg Central police station latest midnight Sunday or be captured and sent to the gulag following the 15 months sentence passed on him by the South African constitutional court.

President Jacob Zuma today took steps to reverse the sentence by filling an urgent application to annul the ruling of the Constitutional Court, which found him guilty of contempt of court.   Zuma was sentenced when he failed to appear or file a 21 page affidavit as required by law.

Instead of filing the affidavit,  Zuma according to the judge resorted to criticism that is beyond tolerable threshold.

In sentencing Zuma, Her Lordship, Justice Sisi Khampepe ordered him to surrender himself to Nkandla or Johannesburg Central police station for committal to the head of the Westville prison in Durban.
