MUNICH – The police are investigating German youtuber Marvin Wildhage after he smuggled himself as a fake mascot into the Munich Arena for the Euro 2024 opening ceremony last Friday.

The 27-year-old has been charged with trespassing, obtaining under false pretences and forgery of documents, the police said.

The person who assisted him shooting the video was charged with the same offences. Wildhage was contacted for comment on Tuesday morning.

The youtuber used a fake accreditation and a fake mascot costume to enter the stadium and make it to the pitch during the opening ceremony ahead of Germany v Scotland.

Wildhage documented everything in a video, including how he made the fake accreditation.
After the opening ceremony, he was discovered by European football ruling body UEFA’s officials and banned from the stadium. The fake accreditation and mascot costume were seized.

Wildhage had previously infiltrated the Germany national team public training session before the tournament. Equipped with training clothing, he stood briefly on the edge of the pitch where the players were practising passing.

After the action, he was accompanied to the stands by a German Football Federation (DFB) employee. There he was recognized by young spectators and asked for autographs.
