LAGOS, Nigeria – Rights activist, Aisha Yesufu has accused Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaech of lying about reported attack on his convoy on the Abuja-Kaduna Train at Mondo area.
The bandits, according to an online newspaper laid ambush for passengers that arrived Rigasa station.
Daily Nigerian had reported that Rotimi Amaechi was among those who escaped being kidnapped when his convoy arrived the station.
According to the newspapers, the kidnappers laid in ambush around Mando area and attempted to waylay the passengers, who arrived at Rigasa train station around 8:15pm. Sources said no sooner the kidnappers opened fire on the vehicles than mobile policemen and soldiers arrived the scene in armoured vehicles to disperse the hoodlums.
“We were lucky the police and soldiers are nearby to come our rescue. The minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi was among the passengers. His convoy had to make a detour onto Rigasa road,” said a passenger, Musa Lawan, the newspaper reported.
But in his reply, Rotimi Amaechi described the report as concocted and untrue. But he also got another reply from Aisha Yesufu who, said Amaechi only denied the report so as not to scare people away from boarding the train. Yesufu said her brother and sister-in-law were in that train and wondered why Amaechi is denying the report
“Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi you should be ashamed of yourself. My sister, my brother and my sister-in-law were in that train. When your convoy scattered and you fled like a new born mouse whom water have been poured on, it was witnessed!. GOVERNANCE IS NOT BY LIES & PROPAGANDA”, she said.
