Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned Governor Chibuike Amaechi for his lack of  sympathy and concern for the welfare of the injured lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor constituency II, Hon Michael Chinda.

A statement signed by Mr. Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to PDP chairman in the state, Hon. Felix Obua, said Amaechi’s preference for hosting governors on solidarity visits has further exposed him as a person lacking the spirit of forgiveness.

Obuah who visited the injured lawmaker in company of other political leaders in the London Hospital  where he is receiving treatment, regretted that despite the frightening state of the  health  of the lawmaker caused by attacks on him by Chidi Lloyd, the state governor  has not deemed it worthy to ask after his welfare, but was busy receiving governors.

“It should be noted that since the unfortunate incident of July 9, 2013 at the State House of Assembly, two weeks after, Gov Amaechi has neither visited the injured lawmaker, nor his family, nor made any enquiries about his welfare.”

Also speaking during the visit Minister of State for Education, Chief Nyesom Wike  expressed surprise  that Hon. Chidi Lloyd could inflict injury of such a magnitude on a fellow human being  and thanked God that the injured lawmaker is alive and enjoined his constituents and family members to remain calm, stressing that justice must follow its course in this issue.

Other prominent Rivers State leaders who accompanied the State leadership of the PDP on the overseas trip are Rt. Hon Austin Opara, Dr Abiye Sekibo, Hon Kenneth Kobani and a former Commissioner for Sports in Rivers State, Boma Iyaye.

Both leaders condemned the brutal physical assault suffered by Chinda, describing it as pre-meditated, bizarre, evil and vicious, adding that Chidi Lloyd and those in support of this evil are  heartless, animalistic and lacking integrity.
