AKWA, Anambra – President Bola Tinubu has described Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, as a visionary and competent leader with a strong commitment to infrastructural development.
He further praised Soludo as a brilliant individual who “knows the way.”
The President made these remarks during a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Anambra State on Thursday at Ekwueme square,Awka, as part of his one-day visit during which he inaugurated several projects executed by the Soludo administration.
He stated that Soludo is someone who will bring lasting prosperity to the state, adding that Anambra is on the rise under his leadership.
According to Tinubu, Anambra has great potential for growth, and with Soludo at the helm, much can be achieved.
He expressed admiration for the governor’s accomplishments, commending him for his visionary leadership in the state.
“I come to Anambra State as a friend. Soludo is my friend and remains my friend,” the President said.
Tinubu also lauded the state government for its proactive measures in tackling insecurity and affirmed the federal government’s willingness to partner with the South-East to address security challenges.
“Nigeria is one family, though we speak different languages. We are united, only living in different rooms. Our diversity is both our blessing and our strength,” he stated.
While thanking the Ndi Anambra traditional leaders for conferring a chieftaincy title on him, he said, “With this chieftaincy title, I am no longer just a friend of Ndi Anambra,I am now one of their sons.”
“I am honoured to be here. I commend my friend, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, a visionary and competent leader, for the work he has been doing in Anambra State,” Tinubu said.
He also acknowledged the governor’s request for federal intervention in erosion control and the construction of a federal road linking Anambra State to Kogi State.
According to the President, the Ministry of Works will look into the road project connecting Anambra and Kogi States, and the federal government will see to its construction.
Earlier, Governor Soludo had appealed to the President for assistance in erosion control, describing Anambra as the “headquarters of erosion” in Nigeria.
He emphasized that the state cannot tackle the problem alone and urgently needs federal support.
Soludo also urged the President to facilitate the construction of a road linking Anambra to Kogi, noting that the road would reduce travel time to Abuja from nine hours to about four hours.
