AWKA, Anambra – The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akpoazaa, Dr. Frank Igbojindu, has shared the reasons behind his decision to award N500,000 to the three best graduating students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State.

Dr. Igbojindu instituted an annual endowment of half a million naira to recognize the best graduating student, the best graduating student in the Faculty of Management Sciences, and the best graduating student in the Department of Accountancy.

He explained that the purpose of the endowment is to encourage human capital development, noting that education remains the most valuable and enduring gift for future generations. Dr. Igbojindu also called on successful individuals from Anambra State to invest in education, emphasizing that education is the only sustainable way to build wealth for the future.

He further stated that an educated person can never be a liability to society.

Dr. Igbojindu made these remarks on Wednesday while presenting the half a million naira cash prize to UNIZIK’s best graduating students to mark the university’s 19th Convocation Ceremony.

He highlighted that his commitment to supporting education and recognizing academic excellence aligns with the mission of the Akpoazaa Foundation.

The Foundation seeks to empower students and foster a culture of academic achievement within the community.

“The donation of half a million naira to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, was intended to encourage serious academic efforts among the students of the university,” he added.

The recipients of the Akpoazaa Foundation’s awards include:

Egwuchika Tochukwu Onyeze, the overall best graduating student, with a CGPA of 4.95. He is a graduate of the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering.
Ozobialu Ekenedilichukwu Melvi, the best graduating student from the Faculty of Management Sciences, with a CGPA of 4.75.

Martins Obinna Kelvin, the best graduating student from the Department of Accountancy, with a CGPA of 4.51.
The overall best graduating student received N250,000, while the best student in the Faculty of Management Sciences was awarded N150,000, and the best in the Department of Accountancy received N100,000.

Dr. Igbojindu, an alumnus of UNIZIK, also made a further contribution by donating a 500-capacity tent through his company, Akpoazaa Event Planners, for this year’s convocation ceremony.

He expressed immense pride and gratitude toward Nnamdi Azikiwe University for imparting both academic knowledge and strong values to him and its students.

“This institution is my alma mater, and this is my small way of appreciating the University for molding me into who I am today. I earned all my degrees, including my PhD, from this esteemed university,” he remarked.

Dr. Frank Igbojindu, who hails from Okija, holds a Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, and Doctorate Degree in Accountancy from the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

Egwuchika Tochukwu Onyeze, the overall best graduating student, spoke on behalf of the other recipients, expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Igbojindu for investing in the future of the nation.

“I am really happy to see a foundation that recognizes education as one of the biggest and most relevant industries to invest in. It’s great to see a foundation acknowledging students who have put in the effort to excel academically. I really appreciate the CEO of Akpoazaa Foundation for this wonderful gesture, and I pray that God continues to bless him with the resources to sustain this great initiative,” he said.

Egwuchika, who attributed his success to following the right people on campus and avoiding distractions, shared valuable insights on academic success.

“I believe that every person has the potential to achieve greatness if they channel their energies purposefully. I spent more time understanding what I read and organizing study sessions to help my peers. Many students struggle with comprehension because they don’t engage with what they’ve learned. Teaching others is a crucial step in solidifying one’s own understanding. By reading and teaching what you learn, you retain the knowledge more effectively,” he explained.

He also thanked God for his success, acknowledging that his achievements would not have been possible without divine guidance.

“I depend on God, and He really helped and guided me throughout my academic journey,” he stated.

The Acting Vice Chancellor of UNIZIK, Professor Joseph Ikechebelu, also expressed gratitude to Dr. Igbojindu and his foundation for the generous gesture. He appealed to other individuals and organizations to emulate the example set by Akpoazaa Foundation.
