ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – The Convener of Recover Nigeria Project Comrade Osita Obi has stated that the Anambra Dubai vision of the incoming governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo is possible.
Obi who spoke in Awka Anambra state capital said the only hindrance for Soludo vision would be those revenue collectors who have been milking the state economy over the years.
He said these people have partitioned the state resources and for him to deliver his promises , he must fight them frontally.
“Soludo must be ready to fight those revenue collectors ,who have turned the state revenue into private enterprise. His Dubai vision for Anambra is possible . The huge revenue in the state is enough to sustain his vision.
“The tricycle riders alone in Anambra generate over N2billion in a year ,that is the one that is accountable, but some individuals pocket them for themselves. The tipper drivers, the sand miners , the markets, bus drivers , traders and others. These are huge sources of revenue for the state , but individuals corner them.
There are people who depend on the state revenue to survive. They are a lot of parasites in the state” he said.
According to him, the state has the capacity to generate over N20 billion every months if revenues are properly accounted for. He said because of the huge internally generated revenue IGR in individual pockets ,they are killing themselves in order to sustain their gripe .
Obi said that Soludo must be ready to fight the cabal and beneficiaries of corrupt revenue windows, noting that he needs to stand firm his foot to survive the cabals. He advised him to make use of known civil societies and credible individuals to fight the cabals in charge of the state revenues.
