MEMPHIS – On invitation of Row Vaughn  and Rodney Well, parents of Tyre Nichols, the Vice President of the United States of America, Mrs. Kamala Harris is today  joining many in paying their last respect to the young man who was beaten and left to die by five police officers, all black attached to the Memphis Police Department.

Tyre Nichols was left to die without any medical attention after he was brutally assaulted at a traffic stop in Memphis. He died January 10, 2023 due to injury sustained during the bloody assault.

A grand jury  indicted the five officers involved in the incident, Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith with charges such as kidnapping, official misconduct and official oppression, in addition to second-degree murder, prosecutors said.

Steven J. Mulroy, the district attorney for Memphis said the beating by the policemen resulted in the death of Tyre Nichols,” and that “they are all responsible”, he said.  The funeral will hold at 1PM at the Mississippi  Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis  with eulogy by Founder and President National Action Network, Rev Al Sharp, while civil rights attorney , Ben Crump   will deliver call to action.

Speaking on the incident, President of the United States, Mr. Joe Biden said: “ We must do  everything in our power to ensure our criminal justice system lives up to the promise of fair and impartial justice for all”, he said, adding that real and real and lasting change will only come  if action is taken to prevent tragedies of this nature from ever happening again.

“That is why  I called on Congress  to send the George Floyd  Justice in Policing Act to my desk. When Senate Republicans blocked that bill, I signed an executive order that mandated stricter use of force standards and accountability provisions for federal law enforcement as well as measure to strengthen  accountability at the state and local level”, he said, just as protest calling for justice continue in the United States, seeking justice for Tyre Nichols.

While acknowledging the right to protest, calling for sweeping reform in the police force, Rodney Well, mother of the deceased has called for peaceful protest without violence, stressing that Tyre Nichols was a man of peace.

Tyre Nichols is 29.
