July 9, 2014 – Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday called on the State Governor, Babatunde Fashola to direct relevant agency to look into alleged illegal oil tank farm operated at 86 Oduduwa Crescent GRA Ikeja so as to maintain the residential status which the area was designed for.

The Chief Whip of the House, Razaq Balogun had raised the issue Under Matters of Urgent Public Importance, saying the illegal tank farm poses danger which should be critically investigated for necessary action.

In his contribution, Rotimi Olowo representing Shomolu I said such illegality should not be condoned, adding that the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) should seal off the premises.

Gbolahan Yishawu Eti-Osa II maintained that the dastardly act called for proactive measures. While advising residents in the State to be proactive in reporting any suspicious movement, he said adequate step should be taken to forestall dangers capable of degenerating in the state.

The lawmakers unanimously agreed that such tank farm was tantamount to an illegality that called for concern and urgent action.

In his ruling, the Speaker, Adeyemi Ikuforiji who presided over the sitting said the state governor should wade in to and prevent loss of lives and property.
