UBWA, CWO to empower 2,000 widows, others at Christmas

ONITSHA, Anambra – The United Business Women Association of Nigeria and Diaspora (UBWA) and  Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Basilica of the most Holy Trinity, Onitsha  have concluded plans to empower 2000  widows and indigent women.

The Founder of UBWA, Chief Amb. Dr Nkiruka Duru, made the disclosure after a courtesy visit by the  executive members  of CWO led by the President, Pharm. Ifeyinwa Onochie.

Duru said the collaboration would help to promote the welfare of women in Anambra state.

According to her, the partnership is targeted at empowering over 2,000 widows and women in a bid to assuage their sufferings, especially during the Christmas celebration.

The Founder of UBWA, emphasised that her association was keen about service to God and humanity, saying, she would love to bequeath a legacy like Esther in the Bible.

She however, urged spirited-individuals and corporate organisations to support the group with donations and food items to help lift the lives of widows and women in the state.

“Christmas is here again; it is a time to show love and help the needy. Our women are going through a lot in the country due to the economic hardship.

“Part of our mandate is to alleviate their sufferings; and with the partnership which the CWO has come to offer, we hope to lift the lives of as much as over 2,000 widows and women during the festive period,” Duru stated.

The United Business Women Association of Nigeria and Diaspora UBWA, is  a non-governmental organisation, which  has empowered over 1,000 widows, women and youths in many states of the Federation with skills acquisition programme where widows, women and youths acquire various skills for self-reliance and are empowered with various equipment at the end of each training.

UBWA was founded in 2020,  and has over 100,000 members in the 36 states of the Federation and over 500 members in 20 countries.
