    TWO ROASTED TO DEATH IN LAGOS BUS

    Nigeria, March 1, 2016 – At least two people have been roasted to death in Lagos while conveying fuel in their vehicle. The two according to officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) were among the four people that were in the bus when the incident occurred.

    General Manager, LASEMA, Mr. Michael Akindele told starconnectmedia.com that the affected bus with registration number KTU 418 XK was conveying gallons of Premium Motor Spirits(PMS) and that the bus ran into an electric before bursting into flames.
    He said that the driver, one of the four people in the bus is currently undergoing medical treatment at Isolo General Hospital but that the where about of the fourth person is unknown.

    “According to investigation conducted by the Agency’s ERT at the scene of the incident, it was gathered that the bus with registration number KTU 418 XK conveying PMS in kegs ran into a pole and subsequently caught fire. Investigation further revealed that 4 persons were in the bus, 2 adult male were trapped and burnt to death as a result of the fire, while the (driver) has been taken to Isolo General Hospital for further treatment, unfortunately 1 of the occupants of the bus cannot be accounted for”, Akindele said.

    He said the agency received distress call at about 5 :30am on Tuesday 1st of March, 2016 at the Command and Control Center concerning a fire incident involving a coastal bus at Nisurat Lasisi Street opposite Kembos College, Aswani, Isolo.
    “Upon receipt of the distress call, the Agency’s ERT mobilized to the incident scene with other responders including the Lagos State Fire Services, Nigeria Police from Aswani Police Station and the Red Cross.

    “ According to investigation conducted by the Agency’s ERT at the scene of the incident, it was gathered that the bus with registration number KTU 418 XK conveying PMS (suspected bunkers) in kegs ran into a pole and subsequently caught fire .investigation further revealed that 4 persons were in the bus, 2 adult male were trapped and burnt to death as a result of the fire, while the (driver) has been taken to Isolo General Hospital for further treatment, unfortunately 1 of the occupants of the bus cannot be accounted for.

    “ The victim at Isolo General Hospital has been transferred to Gbagada General Hospital (burns unit) for further treatment. The two burnt and confirmed dead victims have been handed over to the SEHMU”, he said and advised Lagosians not to hoard petrol as a result of the lingering scarcity.
