Former Vice President of the United States, BERNIE SANDERS has launched a blistering attack on President Donald Trump, accusing him of being “led” into a “horrific” war with Iran by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu.
As the conflict enters its second week, the veteran Senator claimed the President is now “trapped” in a spiralling bloodbath with no exit strategy.
The firebrand politician’s intervention comes as harrowing new figures reveal the staggering human and financial toll of just 12 days of fighting. More than 1,200 Iranian civilians have been killed and 13 U.S. troops have lost their lives since the “unpopular” offensive began.
‘NO WAY OUT’
”Netanyahu LED Trump into this horrific and unpopular war, and now he DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO GET OUT,” Sanders thundered in a statement that has sent shockwaves through Washington.
The Vermont Senator accused Trump of abandoning diplomacy for a “senseless and endless” conflict that has already displaced a staggering 3.2 million Iranians.
Critics of the administration say the war—sparked by joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on February 28—is rapidly becoming a “trillion-dollar quagmire.”
Internal reports suggest the U.S. has burned through $16.5 billion (£13bn) in less than a fortnight. The financial bleed comes as oil prices soar past $100 a barrel, threatening a global economic meltdown.
Military experts are now warning that the “mutual” decision-making process between the White House and Jerusalem is leaving American forces exposed.
While Trump has insisted Iran is “totally defeated,” the reality on the ground tells a grimmer story of damaged hospitals, bombed schools, and a region on the brink of total collapse.
