New York, April 20, 2016 – Two front runners in the race to the Whitehouse in the US, Donald J. Trump of the Republican Party and Hilary Clinton of the Democratic Party continued their winning streak early Wednesday, winning in New York as predicted by many.

Ninety-five delegates were at stake in New York and Trump seems set to claim all the delegates in the Republican Party. He is winning with 98 percent of all votes so far collated.

He is leading other contenders with 847 delegates. His closest rival Cruz has just 553, while John Kasich has just 148 delegates. Trump however needs 1,237 delegates to get the GOP nomination.

But speaking at Trump Tower in Manhattan, the GOP frontrunner said, “I have to say to the people that know me the best – the people of New York – when they give us this kind of a vote it’s just incredible,” adding that Cruz is just about mathematically eliminated.

Clinton is also leading in New York, with 58 percent of total votes already in her favour. She already has 1, 930 delegates including 1,443 pledged delegates. She needs 2,383 delegates to grab nomination of the Democratic Party.

Her closest rival Sanders has 1,223 delegates, including 1,883 pledged delegates and 40 super delegates.
In her victory speech, Clinton said, “New Yorkers, you’ve always had my back and I’ve always tried to have yours,” she said. “Today together we did it again and I am deeply, deeply grateful.”
