LAGOS, Nigeria – Prominent Lagosian, and associates of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Dr. Kolapo Akande is dead. He was 72.
Dr. Kolapo Akande is the elder brother of Mueez Adegboyega Akande, one of the two other defendants named in the $460,000 forfeited to the United States of America being proceeds of heroin.
Kolapo Akande is the husband of Lola Akande, current Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Co-operatives in the Lagos State Government.
The death of Akande, a medical doctor was confirmed by his wife, Lola Akande.
Akande died just few days after, another Lagos APC chieftain and lawmaker, Olayiwola Olawale better known as Omititi died in Jos, Plateau State during the flag-off of the Presidential campaign of the APC.
Omititi has been laid to rest.
Commiserating with the deceased wife, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said Dr. Kolapo Akande, who was brother-in-law to Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of former Lagos State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, died on Wednesday at the age of 72.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, symphatised with Dr. Lola Akande over the demise of her lovely husband.
The Governor also implored members of the Akande family, the deceased friends and associates to take the death of Dr. Kolapo Akande in good faith.
Governor Sanwo-Olu urged people to see Dr. Akande’s demise as the will of God and take solace in Him for a good life spent by the deceased during his lifetime and his contribution to humanity.
He said: “On behalf of my family, my cabinet, the Lagos State government, and the people of Lagos State, I commiserate with the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, Dr. Lola Akande, on the death of his beloved husband, Dr. Kolapo Akande.
“Dr. Akande lived a fulfilled life. He will be sorely missed by his family and loved ones. We sympathise with the Akande family, the wife, children and the entire extended families of the deceased.
“I pray for the repose of Dr. Kolapo Akande’s soul. God will grant him eternal rest and comfort the family, friends and associates he left behind.”
